About Motability
Motability is a national UK charity backed
scheme, which helps disabled people and their
families to become more mobile. Special terms
have been arranged with car manufacturers, banks
and insurers so that today a variety of schemes
can be offered to enable disabled people to
become mobile.
Once you have chosen which car you require
you then agree to pay over all or part of your
mobility allowance (DLA or WPMS), depending
on your choice of vehicle, for the duration
of the contract hire or hire purchase agreement.
Eligibility
To qualify for Motability, you must be in
receipt of one of the following benefits:
- Higher Rate Mobility Component of Disability
Living Allowance (HRMC of DLA)
- War Pensioners' Mobility Supplement (WPMS)
or
- Currently be driving a Government vehicle,
trike or mini.
Your allowance must have been awarded for
long enough to complete the agreement chosen,
plus an additional eight weeks, to allow for
the time needed for your application to be processed.
